Who We Are

Cedar + Steel is a residential architectural design firm in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our aim is to present strong design and personalize every project. We’re dedicated to providing homeowners with unique designs that are value engineered and built to last.

For us, no project is too small, complicated, or straightforward. With each project, we invest our time and talents as if they are our own. Our method of designing incorporates all facets of the construction process, taking each step into consideration along the way.

THE PERSON BEHIND YOUR PLANS

The summer I turned twelve, my dad put me to work on my grandpa's cabin. I manned the saw, cutting the 2x6's that would frame the roof decking while he called the instructions down from above, coaching me through every blade angle and every cut. I've wanted to be in architecture ever since.

Years later I worked as a framer, building everything from condominiums to big custom homes, and then in structural engineering, where I learned the technical side. The how a building actually stands up, and where the loads have to go. I've hefted plywood for hours, collected my share of slivers, and learned a nail gun the hard way.

So I design homes the way I built them functional, beautiful, and buildable, sound all the way to the studs. Every plan is drawn from real-world experience. When I'm not on a project, you'll find me traversing the Wasatch and Uinta mountains, finding the peace and inspiration for the next design.

I caught the building bug at twelve, framing my grandpa's cabin.
